Daft Punk - Doin’ It Right [with Panda Bear] [The Golden Pony Remix]

The one track that everyone seems to be talking about, though, is “Doin’ It Right (feat. Panda Bear)”. I’d expect it to be discussed on blogs like mine, as Noah Lennox and his music definitely float in these circles, but I’ve seen it on forums across all spectrums of the web. It’s filthy catchy, and it features the marriage of two artists folks love.

Enter The Golden Pony, who took the laid back verses and vocal sections of Noah Lennox/Panda Bear and upped the dance equivalent to at least 35. Once the bass thunders in that first time you’ll be ready to do it right, too. The warm weather has taken it sweet time to get here, but it’s finally reached 80+ so this is a good way to kick that off.

Two minutes nine seconds of joy and the hidden gem in this mixed bag collection of older material from Verve. Astrud Gilberto’s cover of Light My Fire is interesting too, but I can’t decide if it’s great or terrible. Probably great, if I could only mix her vocals out of the recording.

I don’t want to live in a world where “I got a week-old panda on my shoes” isn’t the actual lyric in Stayin’ Alive.

I must be the last person to hear about this misheard lyric, which makes Stayin’ Alive 50% more awesome than it already was. The line appears at 1:04 in the video. Just try not to hear it that way now.

I always try to listen to dreamy stuff like this when I go downhill skiing. The entire Seeds of Love album puts me in quite a majestic mood to match the grandeur of the views from the summit. I should assemble a playlist of similar songs like R.E.M.’s wonderfully feedback-heavy Sweetness Follows.

If you’re a Tears for Fears fan I can recommend their Going to California concert. It’s taken from the band’s peak in 1990 when they were touring with Oleta Adams. I listened to the entire show while working yesterday. That version maxes out at 480p and there are higher quality versions of each song available elsewhere on YouTube.
