So Sparrow is really worth it? I’ve been thinking about getting it.

Yeah, so far I think it’s great. It seems to borrow the best elements of the Facebook, Tweetbot, and original Tweetie apps to make browsing email a pleasant experience for once. I don’t mind the missing advanced features because it’s a 1.0 version and I don’t need most of them anyway.

ooTunes has a terrible UI, but it’s handy for streaming internet radio while I’m making dinner.
AccuWeather is the iPhone weather app that sucks the least. It has one killer feature: hourly humidity projections that tell me the best time to go running.
Day One records my daily existential crises.
Elements handles my compulsive note-taking habit and syncs them to Dropbox.
Where’s My Water? has been my favorite game of the past few months. I have tri-ducked every level, including Cranky’s bonus levels, and I still play it regularly.
Lose It! keeps track of my regular cycles of dieting and binging.
Sparrow has banished Apple’s Mail app to a folder containing Notes and Stocks. Mail’s banner notifications about unread messages make up for Sparrow’s missing app badges.

A tip for using the iOS RSS app Reeder to view mouseover captions like those found on xkcd comics.
There’s no obvious way to do it, short of exiting Reeder to view the website in Mobile Safari. But it is possible. Expand the image with your fingers (the opposite of pinch-zooming it) and then tap once on the image to reveal the caption.

The iPhone text editor Elements (not to be confused with the iPad chemistry app The Elements) recently added a nice visual cue. Scroll bars are only visible while scrolling so the app now displays a subtle horizontal border to signal that there is additional content outside the viewing area in either direction.
